Executive Department

John Dixon joined the company in 1974 and has held various leadership positions with SkyLine, including purchasing, information technology and business operations. He headed the company’s business operations departments since 1990 and was named Chief Operating Officer in 1997. Dixon attended N.C. State University and has completed additional coursework in telecommunications management through the University of Kansas. In his role as CEO, Dixon serves as president of SkyBest Communications, Inc., and is a member of the following boards: Carolina West Wireless, Carolina-Virginias Telephone Membership Association, the N.C. Telephone Cooperative Coalition and the North Carolina Telecommunications Industry Association. He is a trustee of the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association Group Health Program. Locally, he serves on the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation Board and attends Victorious Life Lutheran Church in West Jefferson. He and his wife Cynthia have one daughter.

 

 

Jimmy Blevins, Chief Management Officer, oversees the company’s operations in the areas of technical services, finance, customer service, human resources, regulatory, marketing and business development. Blevins joined SkyLine in 1985 as staff engineer, and was named Engineering & Plant Operations Officer during the company’s reorganization in 1997. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from N.C. State University, and he holds a Professional Engineering (PE) license for the state of North Carolina. Blevins is a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and serves on the Network Operations Committee of the N.C. Telecommunications Industry Association and the advisory committee of Spirit Telecom, a regional Internet Service Provider. He has held memberships in the Professional Engineers of North Carolina and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Locally, he is involved in coaching youth sports teams, including soccer, T-ball and football, and he is a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He and his wife Judy have one son.

 

 

Michael Lewis, Chief Regulatory Officer, joined SkyLine in July 2003, following 14 years with the National Exchange Carrier Association in Atlanta , which administers the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Access Charge Plan and provides comprehensive regulatory and training services to the telecom industry. Lewis was responsible for monitoring settlements, assuring FCC rules compliance, assisting with the development of interstate tariffs and working closely with member telephone companies and state and national industry associations. In his current role, he is responsible for revenue assurance, provides all regulatory and legal support for the company and serves as CALEA, CPNI and Safety Administrator. Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in marketing from Virginia Tech. He is married to Deborah Baldridge and has two sons.
