Operating System: Windows XP

The following steps are designed to help you assign a PC's IP address.

Step 1:
Locate the My Computer icon on the computer you are trying to assign the IP address to. Double mouse click the My Computer icon and locate My Network Places under Other Places. Right mouse click on My Network Places, scroll down to the section labeled Properties, and left mouse click on it.

Step 2:
You should have an icon for Local Area Network Connection associated with the network component (or NIC) you are trying to add the IP addresses to. Double mouse click this icon. You will get a dialogue box called Local Area Connection Status. Click on the Properties button. You will then get Local Area Connection Properties, under the General Tab. Scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and double mouse click on it.

Step 3:
You should have a dialog box named TCP/IP Properties pop up, in which you may enter your addresses. Select Obtain an IP Address Automatically.

Next, select Use the following DNS server addresses. In the field labeled Preferred DNS server, enter (   .   .   .   ). In the field labeled Alternate DNS server, enter (   .   .   .   ).

(NOTE: You will be contacted with your DNS addresses when your SkyBest High Speed Broadband Internet service is activated.)
