Troubleshooting Tips for High-Speed Broadband Internet
The High-Speed Broadband Internet service is engineered on the specific phone number requested by the customer. If the modem is plugged into a jack that is assigned to a different telephone number, the High-Speed Broadband Internet will not work.
To test the number on the jack, plug up a phone and dial 995.

Make sure the jack being utilized for the High-Speed Broadband Internet modem has a dial tone.
Data-only customers will not have dial tone.

The modem must be plugged directly into the jack; it should not be plugged into a filter and/or splitter.
Some splitters are compatible with the High-Speed Broadband Internet modem, but for testing purposes, bypass the splitter.
All devices connected to the telephone line, other than your High-Speed Broadband Internet modem, should be plugged into a filter.

In order for the High-Speed Broadband Internet service to work, an ethernet card is required. Many computers have ethernet cards installed at the time of purchase, while others do not. If your computer does not have an ethernet card, you must have one installed.
The ethernet/link light on the modem represents the connection to the computer. If this light is not on, the ethernet card may not be installed correctly.

If you are unable to find My Network Places/Network Neighborhood on your desktop, look under My Computer.

Make sure the addresses are entered into the correct TCP/IP section. The addresses must be entered into the TCP/IP section associated with the ethernet card.

The High-Speed Broadband Internet service is a direct connection to the Internet. The computer settings must be changed from dial-up to direct connect.

If you are going to network computers in order to share the High-Speed Broadband Internet service, you will need to purchase a router or hub.
SkyBest does not offer technical support for the networking of computers.

For testing purposes, it is always a good idea to bypass your router or hub.

If you experience problems with your High-Speed Broadband Internet service, turn off the computer, turn off the modem, wait two to three minutes, restart the modem and then restart the computer. If the problem persists, please contact SkyBest's Technical Support by dialing 1-866-759-7591.
