URGENT NOTICE TO SKYBEST INTERNET CUSTOMERS
RE:  "SkyBest WebMail" Notice Not Legitimate

Dear SkyBest Communications Internet Customer:

If you have received an e-mail from the address "SkyBest WebMail" regarding your e-mail account, DO NOT respond to this with the information that was requested because it DID NOT come from SkyLine or SkyBest. This is an example of "spoofing" or "phishing," a scam that seeks to obtain personal information from unsuspecting consumers.

SkyLine or SkyBest would NEVER request any personal or financial information from its customers through a broadcast e-mail such as this recent example.

During the holiday season especially, these types of scams are on the rise, and this is just one example of how they appear to be from a legitimate source. In the upcoming December issue of the SkyBest eNewsletter, we cite another phishing scam that's currently making the rounds and is disguised as an e-mail from the giant online retailer, Amazon.com. The message fraudulently claims that their "Account Review Team identified some unusual activity in your account" and that "account access will remain limited until this issue has been resolved." Recipients are then instructed to click on a link to "perform the steps necessary to restore your account access as soon as possible."

If you receive an e-mail message like this, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. While the Web site looks like the real Amazon.com, it's actually a phony clone set up for phishing purposes. The scammers are hoping you'll be so busy with holiday shopping that you'll fall for this scheme.

Please note the following helpful tips:

  • Use extreme caution as you review incoming e-mails, especially if personal account-related information is requested;
  • Look for spelling and grammatical errors; oftentimes, these scams reveal incorrect spelling and grammar, including this recent example;
  • If the e-mail has a form to complete any information (including your user name and password, bank details, credit card details, etc.), it is NOT from a genuine site.
  • DO NOT proceed with any request that it makes, DO NOT enter any information and DO NOT click on any link in the spoof e-mail.

You may call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-759-2226 if you have any questions or to report this type of activity.
